Viking Fest Corporation Scholarship Opportunities

Viking Fest Corporation offers a number of scholarships each year. 
The scholarships fall into three (3) categories:

1. Two Viking Fest $1,000 General Scholarships (a total of $2,000).  The scholarships stem from a generous grant from the Suquamish Indian Tribe.  The scholarship form is attached to this website .  Students who have submitted an application at NK High School will have their applications considered as well, and do not need to fill out a new application.   The scholarships will be awarded in June.  They are restricted to graduating seniors from public or private high schools or home-schooled students who are entering a College, University, or Vocational School in the following fall.  The students must reside within the boundaries of the North Kitsap School District.   Academic aptitude, community involvement, and financial need are the primary selection factors.  Applications must be mailed on or before Monday, May 21, 2007 to: Viking Fest Corporation,  P.O. 2. The $1,000 Barbara Krell Memorial Scholarship at the NW College of Art, Poulsbo.  Students must be enrolled at the College to compete for the scholarship.  The scholarship is awarded to the student who designs the logo chosen by the Viking Fest Corporation Board for the next Viking Fest.

3. Miss Viking Fest Scholarships.  The contestants must be girls who are at least 16 years of age and no older than 18 when selected as Miss Viking Fest.  They must be reside within the boundaries of the North Kitsap School District.  An applicant must be attending school with at least a 2.5 GPA.  If chosen, the applicant agrees to reside in the North Kitsap Area, and be available for public appearances, both local and statewide, throughout the year of her reign.

  • One $1,000 Miss Viking Fest Scholarship.
  • A $500 Scholarship for each of the two Princesses in Miss Viking Fest’s court.
  • A $1,000 Doug McKay Memorial Scholarship ($500 from Paradise Amusements Corp. and $500 from Viking Fest Corp.) in memory of Doug McKay who tragically lost his life in an accident while performing maintenance on a carnival ride.  The winner is selected from the essays submitted by contestants for Miss Viking Fest describing the community project that they will carry out over the following year.  Sherry McKay, President of Paradise Amusement Corp. selects the winning project.
